Description

French Way from O Cebreiro staying in hotels/pension

The French Way is the best-known route among the different historical paths that reach Santiago de Compostela. It was recognized by the Council of Europe, in 1987, as the '1st European Cultural Itinerary' and distinguished by UNESCO, in 1993, as a 'World Cultural Heritage' site. In 2004, it was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord.
And O Cebreiro is, undoubtedly, one of the most chosen starting points by pilgrims. Perhaps because we are talking about a path without major complications, perhaps because it is a route that has all services available.
This section of the French Way, of which you will cover the last 150km, has its origin in French territory—hence its denomination—and enters Galicia via an ascending path that reaches its maximum height right in the hills above O Cebreiro.
Throughout the entire Galician route, you can enjoy the hospitality of the people, a rich and varied gastronomy, an important artistic heritage, and in general, an entire welcoming country ready to receive the traveler.
Furthermore, upon your arrival, if you wish, you can apply for the Compostela and thus certify that you have completed the path meeting all required prerequisites.
